Additive Drives: Electric motors for commercial vehicles at the IAA Transportation 2024!
Additive Drives develops optimized electric motors for a wide range of applications. The team will be presenting new developments for trucks and commercial vehicles at the IAA Transportation 2024.
We support our customers in the development of new electric drives with customized solutions, for example to facilitate the switch from combustion engines to electric motors or hybrid drives in commercial vehicles. Motors with low speeds and high torques are often used there today.
In order to make electrification as simple as possible, we work with the customer to find a solution that requires as little intervention as possible in the architecture of the drive system. To this end, we use a comprehensive electromagnetic and thermal design chain as early as the design phase. With adapted winding head designs, optimized conductor structures and effective cooling, electric motors can achieve power densities of up to 100 kW/litre.
Through the targeted use of 3D printing, our customers not only receive a prototype for the test bench or for field tests very quickly, but we are also able to produce quantities for highly specialized applications. The modern plant infrastructure of our production facility also allows us to operate flexibly in conventional series production.
A special feature: We do not limit ourselves to a specific technology, but also master special designs for individual coils or axial flux motors, for example, in addition to distributed windings. Thanks to state-of-the-art insulation, a high degree of copper filling and optimized cooling concepts, we achieve the highest torques, which means that our customers can dispense with additional gear stages, for example.
Hildegard Müller, President of the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA), also convinced herself of the developments in the field of electric drives.
